Case study: Atlantic Islands Centre

atlantic-islands-centreThis new building the Island of Luing, south of Oban, tells the story of the people, nature and landscape of the surrounding islands and provides a hub for the community, with a cafe and rich cultural programme of arts and science events. Since opening in May 2015 the Centre has made a huge difference to people’s lives by being open 7 days a week all year round. Visitor numbers to the island have increased threefold, including many groups. It has created 6 FTE jobs (increasing the number of jobs on the island by over 30%) and motivated 36 regular volunteers who donate 1,000 hours of work per month to the Centre.
