Case study: SNH Remedies project

Since 2010, SNH has applied ‘remedies’ – management interventions – at over 20 geological sites. The most commonly required action is tree or scrub clearance, but there has also been graffitti removed from rock faces, measures to prevent dumping and dumped material removed (including 6 vegetation-covered vehicles at one site), and habitat management to reduce dune erosion. Implementation of remedies is ongoing and will continue in tandem with the Site Condition Monitoring programme, now in its third seven-year cycle.
